How to become a prison officer?

It's only the Prison School at the Correctional Staff Academy KRUS that train prison officers in Norway. The program is two-year and the applications deadline will be announced Wed www.fengselsskolen.no. The first year begins with a Preparatory course which will provide an insight into how it is to work in prison. After the course you are placed at one of our approved aspirant prisons. During the regular evaluation and follow-up of a coach coming to participate in the daily work of a trainee prison officers. That way you will not only have good knowledge of the practical life imprisonment. You also take with you experience and knowledge which creates important perspectives to work Wed during the following theoretical part of your education. Read more>

The Theory Year:

The year is carried out at the KRUS campus in Oslo. Here you will get training in subjects such as criminal knowledge, ethics, environmental work, sociology, psychology, criminal justice, humanity and activity management. The program is inspired by problem based learning methods where the group and group work are an important part of academic life. As in practice year, you will also here be conducted by a guide who accompanies you actively throughout the study period.

The program is paid and involve one year of duty in one of the country's jails after comp searching the education at the prison school.
