New Collaboration with NAV this Fall

Do you have a multicultural background? Would you like to work for a safer society? We are looking for men and women to join an exciting, demanding and rewarding profession. One of the many important tasks is to contribute to is the transformation of inmate behavior so that they can work with the law in the community. We need mature and committed people who are able to see the whole person. For the third time the prison staff academy KRUS, NAV and the Hero Center in the fall of 2009 are implementing a course where the goal is to get more multicultural applicants for the prison staff academy. The prison school wants to recruit you with a multicultural background to a job in Norwegian prisons. It is important that we can take part in the expertise and the experience you have. This will contribute to increased competence in Correctional Services. We are looking for men and women into an exciting, demanding and rewarding profession.

Information about the course:

  • The course conducted by the Hero Center in Oslo, 17 August to 6 November 2009. You will receive training benefits or retain unemployment benefits from the NAV.
  • The course includes themes criminal policy, social sciences, law, ethics, cultural understanding, prison officer role, language, physical training and job search.
  • The working methods include lectures, group work and excursions.
  • All who attend the course will benefit from it even if you do not get into the prison school.

Those who are appropriate for the course will be invited to an information meeting at the prison staff academy in Oslo in June.

 

To be relevant for the course you must have:

  • general, Norwegian curriculum, or
  • passing Norwegian, English and social studies from high school and also experience from working with people (examinations in Norwegian can evnt replaced with good results in the standard language test, known as "Bergen test")
  • served military service or be exempted (applies males)
  • at least one year of work experience
  • completed a minimum of 21 years in 2009
  • good health and conduct

The prison school requires in addition that you:

  • comprises a physical function test
  • have a driving license for passenger cars
  • have the necessary maturity and personal qualities required of a prison
